The Talgo Tribe is close to the sea on the eastern side of the tribes' lands. It is more focused on trading and growing things than fighting or their religion, which makes it more like the Alithrans, in a way. It is the most diplomatic of the four tribes, and it usually does not have to go into war. Thus, most of its people are craftspeople or food producers with some traders thrown in the mix, although farming still is not their main source of food. Of course, there are warriors -- both male and female -- but they do not have the supreme esteem and status as they do in other tribes, mostly Ylarm and Mokhan. Fishing is also a major practice in Talgo, as they are very close to a hidden bay off the side of the ocean, one surrounded by trees that has a lot of good fish for eating. Men and women are viewed equally in Talgo.
To become a chieftain, after the previous chieftain, male or female, dies, there is a council called of some of the most respected people in all of the jobs - the top warriors, the top farmers, the top traders, and so on - who will vote on several names and then suggest these names to the public, who discuss for a day and then vote on their own. Sometimes there are competitions held by those most desiring the job of chieftain, though they are not always chosen in the voting process.
Regarding the Alithrans - The Talgo are very cautious about these newcomers and do not want to commit to one idea too quickly. Some vocal people in the Tribe want to leave them alone in the hopes that they, too, will be left alone and that the colonists' thirst for expansion would end and they would simply kill each other out. Other people murmur that this would end with all of the tribes being destroyed. Generally, there is not much desire for actual war with the Alithrans in Talgo. Some people are uncertain about an alliance with the other tribes because they feel that Ylarm and Mokhan especially would try to take their land and resources from them and enslave them.
