Rules Both out-of-character (ooc) and in-character (ic) rules are listed below. They're really not as long as they look, and we're pretty chill here.[/blockquote] 1. Keep it clean, follow the proboards rules. No R stuff, no porn, etc. Just fade to black – you don’t need to be explicit for us to get the idea.
2. Maximum avatars are 150x300 pixels. Any bigger and it will stretch the page, and a staff member will resize it.
3. Please be mature and show respect for others around you. Know that everyone here is equal and has equal power over the RP, and that every person is actually a person! If you have questions about this (the general idea, not just that people are people… but, I mean, that, too), just ask a staff member. We’re always happy when people ask questions (we feel useful)!
4. We like correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation here. Note and know, please? We understand mistakes, so don’t worry – we don’t go looking for blood. Also, please refrain from frequent chatspeak. If we wanted to work hard to decipher languages, we would just look for hieroglyphs.
5. One character per account. The maximum number of characters you can have now is 3, but you can buy an extra character in the store for gold. How do you earn gold? Just post and be active with all of them!
6. IC (in character) stays IC. Don’t bring IC stuff OOC (out of character) or vice versa. We all just wanna have fun here, and that fun goes kaput if drama springs up around us and sucks our brains out from our ears. If something seems to be starting that is a problem, contact a staff member and it will be taken care of.
7. You don't need to read everything to understand what's going on -- just the main board here. The subboards are for extra stuff, if you were so curious and wanted to get more involved. We encourage you to read the subboard information, but you don't have to! [/ul]

1. As said before, everything explicit must be fade to dark or just ended. Proboards actually has rules about that. Also, it’s just kinda gross. When it comes to violence, there may be some, but don’t make it overly gory and R-rated. We want to keep this site fairly clean and fun for everyone, not just a few.
2. No controlling other people’s characters. This is called power-playing and is a big no-no.
3. No Gary Stus or Mary Sues – these are “perfect” characters who are beautiful, fun, smart, suffering from a horrible past but overcoming, able to solve every problem to suit everyone with a snap of their fingers, is friends with everyone except the evil, conquers Sauron on a daily basis, defeats Voldemort for breakfast, and only gets mad when his or her friends are being threatened, and, though normally non-violent and weak, suddenly go into a rage and can destroy Troy’s walls without removing the statue of Pallas Athena. They’re boring and not much fun for other people; go for interesting characters! --> On this note, also know that characters you must audition for are: chieftains of the tribes and governors of the colonies; you MAY make a member of the noble family so long as the others in the family accept your character into their history and everything
4. Do not make your character invulnerable to life (or, more aptly, death) and able to do everything. This is called god moding. It is really frickin’ annoying and is a huge no-no.
5. Time passes, for now, as it does in real life: one week in real life is one week on HS. This is subject to change, so look for announcements about it.
6. Your character may be any sexual orientation you want. We really don’t care – remember, in ancient Greece, it was pretty popular to be openly bisexual or gay.
7. The gods are the Greek gods and the myths are the Greek myths, but your character can choose whether or not to believe.
8. No official word count here, but don’t make us regret and change that. Put effort in, and we would love to see at least two nice paragraphs, but we understand issues. Just give something for your partner something to which they can reply. It’s really no fun if the only thing you get is a couple of sentences, especially when you give a one thousand word post. If you don’t feel so hot about your abilities, there’s still no reason to fret! We’re here to help: just go to the writing help board, and somebody will be there in no time.

1. As mentioned before, no powerplaying or godmoding or anything of the sort – people control their own characters. Another huge no-no is autohitting, which means that “Bob runs at Jill and slashes her throat with his Knife of Doom and she bleeds to death” is not allowed. What the proper thing to do is “Bob runs at Jill and jumps, slashing his knife toward her throat in the hopes that he can slice it and leave her bleeding to death on the pristine marble steps” or something. Always give the other person a chance to respond!
2. Regarding the outcome of fights, you have several choices: you can decide amongst yourselves beforehand who shall be the victor, you can decide during the course of the fight, or, if you cannot decide at all, a staff member will say something. Most of the time, you take care of it yourselves, but if there is a major battle or something, then a staff member may have the final say. We don’t like controlling your lives completely, believe it or not! (Well, some of us… maybe.)
3. Weapons and armor that your character would have realistically are allowed, but remember the realistically part. This goes for skill, too. If your character is a pauper or beggar, then she might have some dirty fighting expertise, but she would not have any armor and maybe just a knife for a weapon. If your character is, on the other hand, a lieutenant in the Prasinos army, then he would probably have a big glob of armor and weapons as well as professional military training.
4. Winning isn’t always about size or brute strength, but be realistic. If the pauper and lieutenant above met and fought, there is a greater chance that the lieutenant would win (unless there were circumstances such as the pauper finding the lieutenant in a dark alley after he went out in his common clothes for a drink or something, then the pauper would probably have the advantage).
5. Play fair and don’t get upset. Everyone wants to win, we know, (almost) nobody wants to have their character maimed and mauled and constantly losing (those that do obviously just want to hurt the poor dearies they create, the fiends). Your character does not have unlimited stamina and agility to dodge every attack and escape from huge battles against equally skilled enemies without a scratch.
6. Death is permanent. Just so you know.
